KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manage overall payroll operations 7 countries in the region (i.e. China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Japan, Korea, Singapore and Australia) and ensure accuracy, efficiency, compliance and controls by working with internal and external stakeholders.
Manage our regional payroll team members. Define team goals by working with Head of Shared Services, Asia Pacific and cascade the agreed goals to team members and monitor the progress to ensure successful delivery.
Supervise and coach payroll team members on day-to-day operations and provide guidance. Review and sign off payroll reports to ensure regulatory compliance and internal reporting. Proactively engage in team development.
Manage team performance based on the agreed KPIs and provide management reporting (i.e. payroll dashboard).
Drive process simplification and automation by working with internal and external stakeholders.
Maintain cohesive and productive work relationship with internal stakeholders with ‘One Team’ mindset.
Drive customer satisfaction initiatives to maximize employee satisfaction. Address payroll queries from managers and employees.
Ensure robust control and governance to achieve enhanced integrity of outputs to the payroll processes. Ensure 4-eye checks as part of payroll processes and keep SOP updated. Comply with internal risk management policy. Work proactively with Internal Audit and ensure proactive ongoing engagement with our Audit Partner on day-to-day operations.
Own BCP for payroll processes and keep staff back-up structure in place.
Ensure accurate and timely regulatory and internal reporting in different locations, remaining current with local requirements.
Review and manage vendor performance. Agree on key KPIs (e.g. SLA) and address performance issues if any. Review vendor contracts and work with Procurement for vendor sourcing.
Lead (or engage in) regional payroll related projects and involve team members as needed.
KEY COMPETENCIES:
Excellent payroll knowledge and experience on Asia Pacific countries
Knowledge on regulatory requirements in Asia Pacific countries – ability to interpret relevant regulations and a detailed knowledge of payroll legislations in Asia Pacific countries
Tax and expat payroll knowledge and experience
Proven people management and team leadership experience
Proactive, hands-on and attention to detail
Analytical and numerical skills
Customer focussed and business oriented - problem solving skills, can-do attitude, flexible and open-minded
Strong communication skills in English in both writing and oral
